A bride in Brazil was tragically killed after the helicopter that was taking her to her wedding crashed. Rosemeire Nascimento da Silva, 32, had planned to surprise her fiancé Udirley Damasceno and their 300 guests by flying into the venue on the outskirts of São Paulo city.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but it's been reported that the plane may have hit a tree due to poor weather and visibility conditions.

A bride in Brazil was tragically killed en route to her wedding

Fire engines rushed to the scene but sadly all four passengers died – the bride Rosemeire, her brother Silvano Nascimento da Silva, the pilot Peterson Pinheiro and the photographer Nayla Cristina Neves, who was six months pregnant.

Only a small number of guests – around six people – knew that the bride was arriving by helicopter. Her fiancé was left at the altar, unaware of what had happened.

The helicopter reportedly crashed due to poor weather conditions

Events organiser Carlos Eduardo Batista said that Rosemeire had always dreamed of flying into her wedding. He was surprised when the plane, which was meant to land in a nearby football field, did not arrive. He contacted the aircraft company, who confirmed that the helicopter had taken off. They later told Carlos that the plane had gone down.

Pilot Peterson Pinheiro was an experienced flier

The helicopter that crashed was the Robinson 44, PRTUN model. It had been inspected and was allowed to fly until February 2017. A friend of the pilot said that Peterson was an experienced flier who knew the straightforward route, which would have taken only 15 minutes.
