Tradition holds that friends and family shower a bride-to-be with high tea or luncheon fare, but sometimes an afternoon fete just doesn't cut it.

When it came time to create a modern and romantic bridal shower for their good friend Paige, sisters and lifestyle bloggers Laurén LaRocca and Marlan Willardson of Twink + Sis opted instead for a beautifully designed evening dinner party.

"We're seeing a big trend right now in sophisticated dinner parties for both bridal and baby showers," LaRocca says. "We love it because evening parties tend to make people feel more relaxed, not having to rush around in the middle of the day."

In other words, for the bride with a busy schedule, an evening dinner party is the perfect no-stress soirée.

"We wanted to give her a night with her friends where she could relax and drink cocktails in the excitement of her upcoming wedding," LaRocca adds.

The night began with a massive (and no doubt scrumptious) cheese and charcuterie board, while guests sipped on the sisters' signature hand-crafted cocktail "Getting Figgin' Married," made with fresh muddled figs, blackberries, elderflower liquor and vodka.

As the daylight waned, the main festivities began, with a homemade dinner created by the hostesses.

Guests were greeted at the table with lovely hand-painted menus from A Dapper Line, bold rose and ranunculus arrangements from Iris & Daughter and lots of figs.

"The Greeks and Romans adored figs as a sacred fruit, and we have an affection for them here as well," LaRocca adds.

While the lush tablescape is undeniably romantic, decor elements such as grey Heath Ceramics dishes, copper flatware, Czech crystal glasses and blush napkins from Hostess Haven help add a modern touch to the party.

Though it seems things couldn't get any more gorgeous than that, the sisters' dessert display took the cake (pun intended), with treats from Whisk & Whittle, including a deep dark chocolate cake, caramel covered carrot cake, berry tart and donuts blanketed in chocolate.
