Brandon Maxwell wants to make the people of his hometown in Texas proud of his fashion achievements.

The designer recently served as the keynote speaker for the Star Over Longview 2020 awards ceremony, which honours 12 women for their compassion and dedication to the city of Longview and their communities.

Talking to local news station KLTV, Maxwell said it was a "full-circle moment" coming back to his native Texas and hosting the awards and luncheon.

"It was fantastic," he shared. "It was like a dream come true. I've spent my whole career hoping that I would make everyone where I'm from proud. This was a great full-circle moment."

During his career, Maxwell has dressed high-profile women such as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as Hollywood stars including Blake Lively, Jennifer Aniston, and Anne Hathaway.

He also co-hosts U.S. TV show Project Runway with Karlie Kloss, who serves as one of his muses, and created Lady Gaga's extravagant outfits for last year's Met Gala.

During his speech at the Star Over Longview 2020 awards, Maxwell said he believes in giving young people the opportunity to fulfil their dreams.

"I think I'm a prime example of that," the 35-year-old explained. "I'm not someone who has the pedigree to succeed without the love, acceptance, and hard work of the people around me.

"Go out there and pursue your dreams. The world is at your fingertips."
