‘BrainDead’ Slips To Low In Move, ‘Big Brother’ Inches Up To Sunday Highs, ‘60 Minutes’ Clinton Ratings Match Trump
CBS’ BrainDead continues its ratings slide as the quirky supernatural political satire moved from its original Monday time period to Sunday. With a similar-in-size (but arguably more compatible) lead-in from a repeat of CBS’ fellow Washington, D.C.-set drama Madam Secretary (0.5 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers) versus a Scorpion rerun last week (0.6, 4 million), BrainDead logged series lows of 0.3 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers at 10 PM, down a tenth in the demo from the show’s previous low mark in its last Monday outing.
BrainDead was the lowest-rated English-language broadcast program in 18-49 on Sunday, which featured a slew of repeats. The new summer series, from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King, gets a bit of a bounce in Live+3 (most recently up 50%, from 0.4 to 0.6 in adults 18-49), but that still leaves the zombie dramedy at the bottom of the rankings, with slim renewal prospects.
On the brights side, CBS’ summer workhorse Big Brother ticked up a tenth in the demo from last Sunday to a 1.9 and also grew in total viewers (6.3 million) and the other key demos to post Sunday highs for this cycle.
Presidential contenders Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are close in the polls, and the tight race also is reflected in the ratings for their first TV interviews with their respective running mates. Last night’s 60 Minutes, featuring the Clinton-Tim Kaine ticket, nabbed a 0.8 in 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers in the fast nationals vs. 0.8 and 7.85 million for Trump-Pence last Sunday.
ABC’s lineup of classic game show reboots saw all three — Celebrity Family Feud (1.4 in 18-49, 7.5 million), The $100,000 Pyramid (1.4, 6.7 million) and Match Game (1.1, 5.5 million) — slip a tenth in the demo from last Sunday but still win 8-10 PM in total viewers.
ABC won the night in 18-49 (1.2) and total viewers (5.93 million). NBC and Fox aired all repeats.
