‘The Boys’ Casts Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy for Season 3

Ahead of its second season, “The Boys” is already looking towards Season 3, adding “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles, who will play portray Soldier Boy.

Soldier Boy is known as “the original superhero,” who fought in World War II and became “the first super celebrity, and a mainstay of American culture for decades.”

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true,” said Showrunner and Executive Producer Eric Kripke. ” Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys’.”

Ackles is best known for his role as one half of the Winchester brothers, Dean, alongside Jared Padalecki. The longrunning CW drama is set to finally end its run this fall, which was delayed from this past spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. Kripke, of course, created the drama for The CW’s predecessor network, The WB.

“The Boys” returns for its second season on Sept. 4.
