  • Lenny Ross was Frank Reagan’s first partner and longtime friend.

  • In season 6, Lenny shares that he’s writing a tell-all book about his time on the job—including his time with Frank, which prompted Frank to ask him to keep his distance.

  • Lenny reappears in Season 8, where he was found guilty of shooting a stripper and bouncer at a night club. Since then he’s been largely under the radar.

  • In a recent Blue Bloods Instagram post, however, he seems to be back.

Let’s be honest: Sometimes it can be tricky to keep track of all the characters on Blue Bloods. Sure, we all know and love Frank (Tom Selleck), Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), Erin (Bridget Moynahan), Jamie (Will Estes), Pop (Len Cariou) as they’re in almost every episode of the show. The same goes for the mayor. Some guest starring characters, however, can be easier to forget. One that isn’t, however, is Lenny (Treat Williams).

In case you need a refresher, Lenny was Frank’s first partner on the job. Over the years, he’s proven to be a bit chaotic, often causing Frank a fair amount of stress. (Take the time when he announced his upcoming tell-all book about his time on the job or the time he shot up a nightclub and claimed not to remember it.)

Anyway, it’s been a while since Blue Bloods fans last encountered Lenny, but according to a recent Blue Bloods Instagram post, he may be coming back.

The photo in question is of Frank sitting at a table talking to a man who, from the back, appears to be Lenny. The post was paired with the simple caption, “Hello, old friend,” making it even more obvious that that’s who it is. But it says nothing more. Cryptic, no? Fans sure think so. “Oh Man Lenny's Back, More Trouble,” one Instagram user wrote. “Lenny...lol. Wonder what surprise he has for Frank this time,” another fan commented. “I love Lenny! Frank is such a stickler, he needs Lenny and his drama every once in a while,” someone else chimed in.

And now we wait.
