Two-time Academy and Golden Globe award winner Denzel Washington has played a long list of film roles that includes policemen, detectives, lawyers, train conductors and even nuclear submarine officers.

This year, he adds "pilot" to his resume, taking to the cockpit for the first time in the movie Flight, an action-packed dramatic thriller about a seasoned pilot who comes under intense scrutiny for the inner demons he faces, despite his success in saving almost all the lives of his passengers and crew after crash-landing a plane.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film follows Captain Whip Whitaker, played by Washington, who miraculously lands a doomed plane safely and is hailed at first as a hero, but as more is learned about what happened, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on the plane.

Flight opens in Singapore on 21 February. Watch the trailer here:
