Long gone are the days that a French polish or lick of Shellac would prove social media-worthy, as the beauty market has welcomed a bizarre new take on the traditional manicure.

A Russian salon known as Nail Sunny has made a surprising manicure available to clients which features a doll giving birth. Yep, seriously.

In a clip shared via Instagram, a gel hospital bed (and stirrups) can be seen with a gown-clad woman made from acrylic laying upon it.

The video shows the mother ‘give birth’, as the nail technician uses tweezers to pluck a small baby from beneath the gown.

The faux umbilical cord is then cut with a pair of tweezers and the newborn baby is placed on its mother. For those hoping to recreate the strange (albeit weirdly impressive) manicure at home, a step-by-step video later shows how to imitate the gel masterpiece.

But the weird and wonderful creations don’t stop there, as the salon has also shared various other impressive creations via Instagram.

Amid the news of a humble egg becoming the most liked photograph on the social media platform last week, the salon decided to create a manicure inspired by the trend.

But the faux nail eggs aren’t merely for aesthetic purposes, as a video shows that the eggs ooze ‘yolk’ when broken.

Other bizarre manicures thought up by the salon include the likes of dancing ballerina nails, melting cheese toastie-inspired talons and even edible creations made using sweetcorn – a whole new temptation for those guilty of biting their nails.

Understandably, the Instagram account has been met with mixed responses. Some have dubbed the tutorials “beautiful” while others were less than impressed with the birth manicure in particular.

One social media user commented, “This is taking things too far…”

l don’t care for this kind of art,” another wrote.

The question is, will you booking yourself in for a birth manicure this season?
