Biophilic Design Will Dominate in 2022, According to Pinterest
Get ready, plant lovers! Biophilic design is set to become the next best thing in 2022. Pinterest has just released its Pinterest Predicts list, which includes insight about the most-searched trends the platform has seen over the years. And, unsurprisingly, biophilic design was the basis behind numerous popular searches, including biophilic architecture, floral ceilings, staircase gardens, biophilic office design, and biophilic bedrooms. This move to nature-centric design (read more about what exactly "biophilic design" means here) comes after a year that saw an unprecedented surge in houseplant popularity, as well as outdoor gardening and landscape design.
Some other standout home trends on the Pinterest Predicts list include:
Plenty of Curves
If you find a piece of curved furniture, buy it! Curved couches, pool decks, walls, kitchen islands, bars, et al will be big in 2022. Pinterest user and German blogger Luisa says she “cannot get enough of curved furniture and details. Curves add instant personality to parts of the home that need sprucing up. Bland living room? Try a curved couch. Basic room? Add an arched plant wall.”
Safe Spaces
Having a place to retreat to in your home is vital, so everything from music-themed rooms to crystal rooms to a home massage room are all the rage right now. Other options include a rage room or a tiny library room.
Ancient Greece
Some of Pinterest’s recent top searches include all things Greek, like ancient Greek jewelry, Aphrodite-inspired wallpaper, Greek statue art, Corinthian columns, and, in general, the ancient Greece aesthetic.
Luxury
There was no shortage of luxury-focused Pinterest search trends this year, including luxury room ideas for basements, garages, kids’ bedrooms, gaming rooms, and even laundry rooms.
