A celebration of Billy Porter's show-stopping red carpet style

If Billy Porter isn’t on your radar already, he should be. The American performer, who celebrates his 50th birthday on 21 September 2019, has been making waves with his boundary-breaking red carpet outfits in recent months.

His fashion is bold, playful and designed to make an impression. After a 30-year career, it was a tuxedo gown worn to this year’s Oscars that made him known globally.

The look, a velvet tailored jacket paired with a full-skirted dress designed by Christian Siriano, defied fashion norms and sparked a discussion about self-expression and gender representation.

“I’m not a drag queen,” Porter, who stars in FX series ‘Pose’, told Vogue at the time. “I’m a man in a dress.”

Mere weeks later, he hit headlines again after donning a bejewelled jumpsuit to be carried, by six shirtless men, into the Met Gala.

And this week, he changed into no fewer than 20 outfits in five days at London Fashion Week: an array of looks including a tiered, burnt orange Roksanda gown and a baby pink, satin coat by Christopher Kane.

Porter’s sartorial prowess shows no sign of fading.
