BIGBANG's Seungri to launch the first YG Republique in Malaysia

Seungri from Korea's top boy band, BIGBANG, will be coming to Kuala Lumpur in August to launch the first YG Republique in Malaysia.

Set to open at TREC KL on 12 August 2017, YG Republique will be making its opening along with two of its famous F&B brands – 3Geori Butcher's and K Pub, which is Malaysia's bonafide and first fully-themed K-Pop bar.

Seungri will be at the grand opening on 11 August along with DJs from Natural High Record – which is a label founded by Seungri – Glory, TPA, and Danu and also several other yet-to-be-announced artistes.

YG Republique KL is a partnership between Korea's YG Foods, owned by South Korean entertainment juggernaut YG Entertainment – and KL-based Korean restopreneur Sainy Chun, as well as prominent Malaysian businessman Dato' Douglas Cheng, one of the two founders of TREC KL.

With three outlets in South Korea, the popular 3Geori Butcher's pork barbecue restaurant opened its first overseas branch in Bangkok's Show DC mall, with Malaysia being its second international location.

The BBQ grill restaurant serves premium pork and beef, using only iberico pork from Spain.

Besides BBQ grill, 3Geori Butcher's also features a near dozen ala carte meals, including YG Specials – Andong Jjimdak, a traditional Korean chicken stew with glass noodles.

Meanwhile, K Pub is Malaysia's first authentic fully themed K-pop bar, featuring a wide variety of beverages including soju cocktails, soju, makgeoli, craft beers, wines, cocktails, Korean whisky, and more.

Occupying two units at Hive, YG's Korean chef Ji Byung Kwon from the main branch in Hondae will lend his culinary expertise, leading the kitchen at YG Republique in KL for six months.
