Big Brother is set to return to screens very soon on ITV2, following five years off-air. But anyone worried it's going to be another show with a cast made up of celebrities need not fret.

Instead, new host Will Best has reassured viewers: "It’s going back to being real people."

"The great thing about Big Brother is it's entertainment, but entertainment with a bit of everything thrown in," he added to The Sun.

"The focus of this is, it's going to be an entertainment show, but it's going to be fun and funny with all of that emotion and realness that you get with Big Brother."

Speaking about Channel 5's version of the show, he continued: "Times change, it was the right show for the time, I think.

"But now I think it’s time for the reality people want to see, which is real people being authentic and that’s where the fun comes."

Will was recently announced as one of the show's new hosts, alongside Strictly Come Dancing finalist AJ Odudu.

Speaking at the time, former T4 presenter Will said: "I grew up with Big Brother, so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can't wait to tell some housemates not to swear."

AJ added: "I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting Big Brother! I couldn't be happier.

"Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour – and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake."

Back in March, ITV2's managing director of media and entertainment Kevin Lygo discussed that they were aiming to evoke the "golden period of the show", adding: "To have it more interesting, intelligent, upmarket than other reality shows. It’s a great addition to have in the autumn period."
