Whether you need to do some last-minute Christmas shopping or are gearing up for the Boxing Day sales, you’re likely not only the best deals, but, also the best refund policies.

While you’re protected by the Consumer Rights Act if a product is not of a satisfactory quality or faulty, the T&Cs from shop to shop vary and can be a bit of a minefield.

How many days do you have to change your mind? Are you entitled to your money back or just an exchange? And do you actually need to turn your room upside down to find the receipt?

It all differs depending on the brand, as well as if you’re shopping in-store or online. So, to make things easier we’ve rounded-up all the high street shops with the best return policies to give you peace of mind.

Amazon

Amazon’s usual returns policy is a standard 30-day from when the item was dispatched. The company also allows you to exchange certain items for a different colour or size.

That said, items sold by independent sellers on Amazon can't be replaced, but may be returned.

Amazon has an extended returns policy for Christmas, allowing items purchased from 1 November to 31 December to be returned at any time before midnight on 31 January 2020.

Argos

Argos offers a 30-day returns guarantee on most items. You can either return the item to any Argos store, or if you ordered online, Argos can collect the item for free and will refund the original delivery charge.

Is the item faulty? If you've had the item between 30 and 365 days Argos will get it repaired, replaced or refunded.

When returning anything you do, however, need to make sure you have proof of purchase, such as a receipt or confirmation email.

Argos has also extended its return policy for Christmas, with items purchased from the 16 October being able to be returned up until 25 January 2020.

Anthropologie

The fashion and homeware brand offers a refund up to 30 days from the date of delivery. For Christmas, any item purchased between 1 November and 13 December can be returned until 14 January 2020.

Debenhams

For Christmas, any items purchased between 24 October and 24 December, can be returned until 31 January 2020.

John Lewis

You can return an item that has been unused (all labels and tags must be intact) for up to 35 days after an in-store purchase. If you purchased online, the return has to be done within 14 days and you will also need proof of purchase for both.

For Christmas, however, any gift bought between 21 October and 24 December can be returned up until 28 January 2020.
