While some may have splashed out on a new laptop or a standing desk to make their working from home space more comfortable amid the coronavirus pandemic, others may have decided this was the perfect time to give their home a makeover and have splashed out on brand new bed frames, drinks trolleys or outdoor table sets.

Sportswear and fitness equipment, such as yoga mats, weights and new running trainers have also been in high demand during lockdown.

The green fingered among us have splurged on house plants or seeds and compost, to keep busy. While beauty enthusiasts have taken some time out for themselves and sampled new gadgets or moisturisers to enjoy a pamper in the comfort of their own home, as salons closed during the pandemic.

"Lockdown made me realise the importance of my immediate surroundings and how it's integral to shaping my health and happiness. Surrounding myself with plants has transformed my house into a home with great air quality and it has also reinvigorated my love for nature, as I can care and nurture them, which is really relaxing."

“During lockdown my skin has been the worst it has ever been. I have tried various cleansers and exfoliants, but to no avail. I even avoided putting products on my face to try and let my skin breathe. But it turns out all it needed was some moisture and this Clinique Superdefense has worked to hydrate my skin, reduce the bumps and give it an added boost of radiance.”

“I have missed heading to the salon to get my nails done for bit of self-care. My nails are very brittle and the only solution that prevents this is when I have a gel coat on top to stop them chipping or flaking. This nifty little gel set has everything you could desire, it is compact, leaves your nails looking glossy for salon-like nails that last for a minimum of two weeks.”

“As a bookworm I visit the library at least once a week. With these shut during lockdown, I turned to Amazon to get my fix. The best book I read while isolating was Bad Blood by John Carreyrou, a fascinating non-fiction account of the rise and fall of the fraudulent biotech firm Theranos.”

“Having always had a fairly basic skin care regime and not ever being very happy with my skin, I invested in several Liz Earle products at the start of lockdown (Cleanse and Polish, Skin Repair moisturiser and the Deep Cleansing Mask). Using these products properly and regularly, combined with not wearing foundation, has made my skin much better and I feel happy enough to go make-up free most days!”

“This standing desk was recommended to me by one of my employees, he raved about it during the start of quarantine. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but when it arrived I was not disappointed. The ability to work standing up has completely changed my productivity. Before this I was finding myself getting restless, achey and distracted. But when you’re starting to feel tired and flat, this prop is the perfect way to change your posture, shake you out of a slump and to give you a boost of energy.”

“I bought a massage gun because I started to do a lot more running during lockdown, but found it was starting to hurt my legs and stretching wasn’t quite cutting it. It is very easy to use and only needs two batteries to get going, which is great as you can take the lightweight device on the go and change the batteries with ease. I would definitely recommend it for those who want a massage.”
