Spring is here and with it the urge to get out into our gardens and start potting and planting.

For months and months we’ve had to look at flower-less plants and colourless beds but now is the time when the green-fingered among us come into our own.

Whether you have flower boxes, a concrete patio or a sprawling expanse of green, you can get down with the dirt and plant (or pot) flowers and all manner of exciting seeds and buds.

However, you can’t do it alone. As every gardener worth their soil knows you need a few tools in your kit to help you along the way.

From kneeling pads to protect your joints to a good pair of gloves to protect your hands, we’ve rounded up everything you might need to grow your garden into a paradise of green.

All the garden tools you need to get going

It’s inevitable that you’ll spend a lot of time kneeling down when gardening, so protect your joints (and your clothes) with this gardener’s essential: a kneeling pad.

This decorative version from John Lewis is particularly padded and long-lasting.

Garden hoses can be fiddly to maneuver and are more likely to spray you in the face than the flowerbeds. So, every gardener needs a watering can to help them keep things growing.
