The likes of Marc Jacobs, Paco Rabanne and Gucci have all had best selling fragrances in 2019, according to Fragrance Direct’s top-selling scents list.
From the classics with a cult following to the newer fragrances that have spritzed their way into the elite squad, there’s plenty to choose from if your bottles are looking disappointingly empty.
Talking about this year’s lists, fragrance expert, Lucy Gratton said: “As with our top female scents, our male consumers also trended towards the bigger, more recognisable names in the fragrance space – Paco Rabanne and BOSS dominated our best sellers list.”
“Male consumers largely stuck to tradition in 2019, with strong AW scents like cedar, sandalwood and cinnamon (which are typically associated with more masculine products) all seeing gains in popularity.”

Some of the industry’s biggest names are experimenting with our sense of smell this year, according to Lucy.
Unconventional notes of leather and seawater have played a more dominant role with the addition of scents you can probably also find in your kitchen cupboards (think: ginger, pepper and cardamon).
“Finally, it’s also interesting to see more and more brands weave softer, more typically feminine notes such as lavender, rose and clementine into their biggest ranges, further suggesting the industry is moving towards a future that leaves traditional ideas of gender behind,” Lucy concludes.
