Dogs are just the best things ever. Sure, cats are nice and everything, but sometimes cats are mean. Dogs are never mean. Im fact, there exists in this world a dog that waits every day for a girl to come pet it one her way home from school. The pooch shoves its adorable little face under the fence so that Elisa Lee, a 17-year-old from California, can reach under and give it a little rub. The dog’s name — just to make it even cuter and ensure you start talking in the weird baby voice you use to talk to dogs — is Ralph.

Elisa ran into Ralph at the beginning of this school year It started when she saw a cute little puppy outside of his house by her school — and it was there every day. So, as teenagers do, someone told Elisa to go pet the thing since she kept noticing it.

“At first I was afraid that he would bite me, since most dogs would bark at you and seem aggressive if you came near their house,” Elisa said.

But it didn’t because Ralph is ~obviously~ the best dog ever and just wants to say “what’s up.” It was love at first site. She added, “The first time I pet him he was so excited and started licking my hand and pawing at it.” Ralph was just a little lonely little puppy.

“Sometimes he’s not there, probably chewing on a toy or laying in the grass, but if I call his name he is sure to come to the little spot on the right side of the gate where he can see me better. Most of the time, by the time I walk to the spot, he waits there for me to pet him before I leave.”

If only we could all have a BFF as loyal as that dog. Once, Elisa saw Ralph out for a walk with his owner, just in case you were worried that no one else but Elisa loved the dog. That’s also how she found out his name, since you know, dogs can’t introduce themselves. Ralph also gets butthurt, too. Elisa said that she had a four-day weekend recently, and Ralph was straight pissed when she finally showed up.

“He looked mad at me since I didn’t pet him for that period of time,” she said. “A lot of the time he looks so sad when I leave and tell him bye, but I tell him I will be there the following day or so on.”

Don’t hold a grudge, Ralph.
