3 Jul – Just when fans thought they'd never see Ben Affleck as Batman, or Batfleck, as his portrayal of the character is referred to, there's a new rumour circulating now that he has signed a deal to reprise the superhero role.

The rumour first appeared in 4Chan in May and most recently, The Cultured Nerd and LightCast on YouTube also claim the same, according to Cosmic Book News.

Reportedly, Batfleck's return was made possible thanks to the confirmation of "Zack Snyder's Justice League's" release on HBO Max. The movie, also known as the Snyder Cut, will premiere on the streaming platform next year.

It is said that the actor has already signed a new contract and will be making additional appearances as Batman in contents related to HBO Max and "Zack Snyder's Justice League's" movies.

Taylor Murphy of The Cultured Nerd claimed, "The official announcement is expected to happen either at DC FanDome or during JusticeCon. One of the two, we're going to get that announcement but it's going to happen before September."

Murphy also shared the reason why Affleck has agreed to return as Batfleck.

"Essentially, Ben took the role because of Zack. Zack convinced him, he sold him on the pitch, he loved the idea, and he built that loyalty to Zack," Murphy said. "When Zack left, Ben still stayed behind. He said, 'I can make this work. I'll do this. I'm still producing this. I'm going to make it happen.' But 'it' started happening to him, too. He started losing his control -- what he wanted to do with the role, he started losing it, and then he lost his interest in it."

Murphy added that after Snyder's return was confirmed and seeing the amount of trust that he was given to make is Snyder Cut project, Affleck is convinced to return.

Most likely, Batfleck's comeback will be in the Snyder Cut first, before he will be seen in other contents that could be movies or series on HBO Max, these are undetermined at the moment.

Fans have also taken to referring to Batfleck as as Snyderverse Batman now, to differentiate between Robert Pattinson's portrayal of the titular superhero of Matt Reeves' "The Batman" and Michael Keaton's rumoured reprisal of the Caped Crusader in the upcoming "The Flash".
