Beetlejuice 2 Reports Denied By Tim Burton’s Representation

It seems that long-rumoured ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel is still nothing more than a rumour, as recent reports that a sequel is about to start production have been declared untrue.

A representative of Tim Burton told Entertainment Weekly that quotes attributed to the director were fabricated, and that no ‘Beetlejuice’ follow-up is in development.

Instead, Burton will reportedly follow his upcoming movie ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ with a live-action take on Disney’s ‘Dumbo.’

Obviously this news will come as a blow to fans of the 1988 original. It’s particularly surprising to hear a sequel isn’t even in development, as the director and stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder have all spoken publicly in the recent past about their interest in revisiting the ghost with the most.

Keaton declared back in March 2014 that he was “more than interested” in reuniting with Burton on a ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel, declaring, “it’s the one thing that, if I ever did anything again, it would be that.”

Later in August 2015, Ryder confirmed on a US talk show that she too was on board.

Something tells us this story is far from over. Fans better get saying his name three times…
