Bebe Rexha was inspired by Gwen Stefani's punk rock style when she was growing up.
The 29-year-old revealed to WWD that she was inspired by the No Doubt frontwoman when she was growing up in Staten Island, New York, and tried to replicate Gwen's onstage outfits.
“I loved how Gwen always dressed kind of quirky. I love kind of punk style, but I don’t mean black eye shadow and black lipstick. Punk to me is a feeling," she said.
The Meant to Be hitmaker also loves mixing vintage pieces with simple tank tops and jeans, like her idol.
"I am very inspired by Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood’s vintage corsets and old Chanel. I like mixing classics with a little bit of grunge punk. I’m the girl who will wear jeans with a black tank top and a leather jacket – super basic," she shared.
Elsewhere in the interview, she opened up about the "insane" reaction she gets on social media when she posts snapshots of herself on Instagram with messy hair and no make-up.
"At the end of the day, we all want to be the best versions of ourselves and represent something. I love getting all dressed up with a corset on, Spanx and being all sucked in – tons of glam, makeup and extensions – posting a picture of myself," Bebe explained. "If I post a picture like that compared to one of me with my hair a mess and no makeup on, the difference of how people react is insane. People go crazy.”
