1. How did you start your career as a DJ?

I heard The Muttons talking about a competition to search for the next 987 DJ and was just so drawn to it. I dread joining talent shows of any kind, but couldn’t convince myself why not.

So, my friends dragged me to the audition and were incredibly supportive throughout the competition, which I won… it came as a shock to me, but I’m glad it happened.

I’ve been very fortunate to have flown around the globe to interview some of the biggest celebrities like Ezra Miller, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, Chris Hemsworth, Gal Gadot… the list goes on. It’s crazy!

2. Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

It really varies day-to-day, but I start my day on-air from 6am to 10am on Get Up with Gerald & Kim, then either have some meetings or head off for a shoot.

I’ve been doing more dramas for Channels 8 and 5, and Toggle in the past year or so, and it’s great to get back in touch with acting because my background is in theatre.

On days where there are pockets of time, I try to head to the gym or just have a nice meal with the people I love.

3. What’s your morning beauty regime?

I used to believe in double-cleansing, but because I have dry skin, I have recently started something new in the mornings – washing without facial cleansers.

I find that it helps to keep my face more moisturised if you don’t strip away all the oils that build up overnight. Just cleansing with water has been a pretty good trick that I picked up from a friend.

I use SK-II Facial Treatment Essence and FRESH Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence, which double up as toners, then The Body Shop’s Drops Of Youth Concentrate and Drops Of Youth Youth Eye Concentrate (I swear by these) and moisturiser to top it off. Sunblock is always the last step.

4. What’s your night-time beauty regime?

I double cleanse at night, and usually try to do a mask too, especially if I have had make-up on for the entire day. I’ve seen many recommendations to mask once or twice a week, but because my skin is dry, I try to mask more frequently because it helps to replenish the moisture in my skin.

5. What are your current favourite beauty products? Why?

This is such a tough question… I like so many things!

I recently discovered the magic of Dr Jart’s products. From masks to creams and overnight repair gels, their products really work magic. So I stocked up like crazy during my trip to Korea last December. I also can’t live without lip balms cause my lips get really chapped, I’ve got one in every bag I own.

6. What is the most common beauty mistake you’ve heard/seen Singaporeans making? How would you wish to correct it?

Over-contouring. Done in the right way, it really sharpens your look, but please blend it out.

7. Is there a beauty secret that you swear by?

Yes, prepping your skin well before make-up. It sounds simple, but it works magic. Products sit much better on a fresh and clean canvas, and lasts longer.

8. How big is your beauty collection now?

It’s gotten a little out of hand. I literally have boxes of make-up packed around my house, but I try to give away as many things as possible if I’m not using them. All products have a shelf-life, so if you hoard your make-up, don’t waste them! Pass it along to someone who would love and use it more.
