Bb Pilipinas postpones pageant indefinitely
27 May – Binibining Pilipinas has recently announced that the 2020 edition of the said pageant has been postponed indefinitely.
The news was shared by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc (BCPI) on 25 March in a statement released on its social media account, which read, "Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) supports the government's quarantine restrictions and efforts to curb the further spread of COVID-19 which has now become a global pandemic."
"BPCI recognizes the pressing and urgent need to protect the health and safety of the candidates, their families and friends, all the passionate pageant supporters, and the general public."
"Mindful of the potential and serious risks, BPCI has decided to postpone the Binibining Pilipinas 2020 Pageant indefinitely. Our plans to re-schedule the pageant activities shall depend on guidelines and regulations that will be issued by the government in the coming months."
The BPCI also assured that they are still planning to hold the pageant, but will only do so after the threat of the pandemic subsides.
