Bates Motel Team Talks Season 5's 'New' Mother, 'Racy' Norma/Norman Moments and the Series' Final Scene

Bates Motel fans who are still in mourning over Norma’s demise can rest assured that not only will we get a lot more of Vera Farmiga in Season 5, we’ll also get much better acquainted with the “Mother” in Norman’s head — in essence, a whole new character.

“We’re gonna get to spend more time with her now,” executive producer Kerry Ehrin explained to Michael Ausiello when she and the A&E drama’s cast dropped by TVLine’s Comic-Con studio presented by ZTE. In fact, we’ll get to “know her more intimately.”

Maybe we’ll even get to see the sort of “pretty racy things” that Farmiga said she and Freddie Highmore shot for seasons past that ended up on the cutting-room floor. In particular, she recalled, “there was a really intimate moment that never ended up making” it into the show.

Also in the video Q&A above, Highmore shared his hilarious hope for the series’ final scene, Nestor Carbonell put Ehrin on the spot regarding the casting of a sister for Rihanna’s Marion Crane, and Max Thieriot predicted Dylan’s reaction to Norma’s death.
