Barack Obama reveals his favourite movies of 2018

Looks like Barack Obama has been keeping up with Hollywood this year.

The 44th President of the United States has shared a list of his favourite films from 2018 that he found “most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved.”

Obama selected 15 movies in total and they range from cinematic to streaming service releases, superhero movies to documentaries.

2. Black Panther

3. BlacKkKlansman

4. Blindspotting

5. Burning

6. The Death of Stalin

7. Eighth Grade

8. If Beale Street Could Talk

9. Leave No Trace

10. Minding the Gap

11. The Rider

12. Roma

13. Shoplifters

14. Support the Girls

15. Won’t You Be My Neighbor

Some of the filmmakers reached out to the President to thank him for including their films on his list.

Armando Iannucci wrote and directed the political satire The Death of Stalin.

Shoplifters is directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda.

Anjali Kumar, a board director of PBS, celebrated Minding the Gap being on the list.

Co-writer and star of Blindspotting Rafael Casal was also pretty chuffed with the endorsement.

Films like Roma and Annihilation are available on Netflix while some won’t be out in cinemas until 2019.

If Beale Street Could Talk, directed by Barry Jenkins, is set for release in the UK on 18 January.
