Pepsi Releasing Back To The Future 2 Pepsi Perfect Bottles

‘Back to the Future’ celebrates its 30th anniversary this year… as well as it soon being the actual date that Marty McFly travels to in ‘Back to the Future Part II’.

And while plenty of fans shine their hoverboards and don their holographic caps for the occasion, it looks as though Pepsi are getting in on the fun with a limited edition Pespi bottle.

Featured in the smash hit ‘Back to the Future Part II’, the futuristic Pepsi bottle was originally encountered by Marty McFly as he tries to order a drink in Café 80s… and now you can grab one of these iconic bottles, too. Watch the Pepsi Perfect trailer below.

“Fans have always been a little crazy about it,“ says PepsiCo senior director Lou Arbetter, “and so we wanted to take advantage of the fact that Marty travelled to the future, to this month, and wanted to actually come out with the product.”

Unfortunately, you won’t find the bottle delivered via pneumatic tube… and the ‘Pepsi Perfect’ flavour is just a regular, full-sugar Pepsi. On top of that, they’re going to cost a whopping $20.15 – clearly a nod to the year of ‘Back to the Future Part II’. But the real downside is that just 6500 of these limited-edition bottles are being made.

And it’s unclear how many will make it to the UK – if any.

“The bottle will be sold online,” says USAToday, “Pepsi recommends fans check out the company’s social media pages closer to the Oct. 21 launch date to know exactly where they can purchase it.”

Ahead of the cool, new bottle’s general release, PepsiCo will be taking to the New York Comic Con to distribute 1500 of these awesome new bottles… but only to fans dressed like Marty McFly.

“We’re fans of this popular trilogy, and just generally, if you work at Pepsi you’re fans of pop culture,” said Arbetter. “The brand has made its mark in pop culture frankly since Michael Jackson moonwalked. We’ve been dancing in and around pop culture for a while. So we look at this as another opportunity to have a little bit of fun.”

Of course, Pepsi is just the latest company to get in on the action, with Nike reportedly due to release its powered-lace shoes as seen in the movie. Meanwhile, the town of Reston, Virginia will be renaming itself as ‘Hill Valley’ in honour of the movies.

Will Pepsi Perfect be available in the UK? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

But in the words of Lou from Lou’s Café: “You want a Pepsi pal, you’re gonna pay for it.”
