A woman sparked fury after she disinvited her bridesmaid’s child to her wedding at the last minute.

She decided she didn’t want the “stress” of children at her wedding after her bridesmaid had already booked flights and the hotel for her whole family.

In January my best friend invited us to her wedding which is taking place in July, in another country. She asked me to be a bridesmaid.” The woman wrote on Mumsnet.

“The wedding invite stated ‘no children’ and when I queried this she said they were having an adults only wedding – except obviously their own children would be there (1&3).”

“She told me that as I am a bridesmaid, my son (2) could come, and she also knows I have no childcare options (dad too old and sick, no parents on husband’s side).”

The woman and her husband booked the time off of work, booked their flights and paid for their accommodation.

Everything was paid for and organised, until the bride dropped a bombshell on her best friend.

“Today she has told me that my son can no longer come with us as they have decided it really is adults only and they don’t want the stress of children.”

She bride went on to suggest that her bridesmaid should “come alone and leave my husband at home with our son”.

The woman looked to Mumsnet for support, asking the community of Mums: “Am I being unreasonable?”

Reams of comments offering the woman advice appeared shortly after she posted.

Wow – she is completely out of order here, particularly as it is a foreign wedding and you have made plans and paid for everything. That is not ok.” One user wrote.

She continued: “To be honest I wouldn’t want to be her bridesmaid anymore either after pulling this at this late stage.”

Most agreed that the bride was being unreasonable, but there were a few commenters who could see the brides point of view.

One wrote: “I think I would carry on with my plan and let my husband and son enjoy the hotel grounds for the day and sneak them some cake.”
