Filmmaker and director Ava DuVernay, known for her work on Selma and When They See Us has just sold her midcentury modern home in the Hollywood Hills. She bought the home for $1.9 million back in 2017 and had it up for sale initially last year for $2.475. The home took a slight price cut from its original listing price, selling for $2.06 million earlier this month, according to its listing on Realtor.com.

The midcentury modern property was constructed back in the 1960s and is 3,213 sq ft with four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The home is listed as having floor to ceiling windows, sliding glass doors, an open design main floor, skylights, and a wraparound observation deck. As you pass through the dining area into the kitchen, you’ll be met with stainless steel appliances and concrete countertops. In addition the home has its own private art studio, a walk-through closet in the main bedroom and a modest, one-car garage.

DuVernay is now residing in her new abode, a Mediterranean-style mansion in Los Feliz, which she bought in 2019 for $9.8 million. Her new home is twice the size of her previous one at 6,320 square feet, and boasts an Olympic-sized swimming pool. This upgrade isn’t surprising, as the A-list director has been racking in movie deals left and right and in 2018 she signed a whopping $100 million deal with Warner Brothers. TLDR: She definitely deserves to splurge a little!
