Assault victim to settle case with Gao Yunxiang?

19 Jul – Another development has emerged from Chinese actor Gao Yunxiang's sexual assault case, as it was alleged that the victim is planning to settle outside of court.

According to UDN, the woman in question reportedly is willing to drop the case for a hefty settlement of AUD 10 million.

Sources claimed that the victim, who is reportedly married and runs a media company in the local area, has been thoroughly affected by the case and some of the insinuations made in court by the defense team that she had consensual sex with both Gao and the other defendant, Wang Jing.

However, it is noted that such settlement may not resolve the issue, as sexual assault is a criminal offense and Gao may still face charges from the local authorities.

Meanwhile, netizens are divided, with some questioning the validity of the reports about a possible settlement and calling it a smear campaign to discredit a victim of sexual assault.

Gao's camp has not made any response regarding the claims.
