11 Jan – After its rebirth in 2017 with a new digital media platform, it was reported Asia Television (ATV) is laying off employees yet again.
As reported on Mingpao, the company, which had terminated the jobs of 50 staff back in November, reportedly will be starting another round of layoffs in the near future. Its current number of employees is at 170.
A spokesman for ATV Digital Media addressed the decision recently, saying that it is necessary for the company to re-integrate its resources in response to the changes in the operating model and programme content.
Reportedly, about a dozen employees will be affected, mainly from resources, programme department, and OTT department.
The spokesman stressed that the company will make compensation in accordance with labour law.
At the same time, the company assured that the reduction of manpower will not affect production, as ATV will continue to develop and launch several new programmes.
