Ashley Graham recruits celebrity guests for her podcast by messaging them privately on social media.
The model launched her Pretty Big Deal podcast, in which she has candid conversations with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams and Amy Schumer, in October 2018, and began the second season last week.
In an interview with WWD, the 32-year-old, who is currently pregnant with her first child, shared that she isn't afraid to slide into celebrities' direct messages (DMs) to ask them to be a guest.
"I DM people all the time. I will blow your DMs up," she said, adding that her strategy works as no one has turned her offer down as yet.
She believes her podcast stands out from the crowd because guests feel like they can be candid.
"I've been completely honest with my fans since Day One and they know that I'm only going to bring honesty out of my guests and that's always been the goal for me - just to have honest, real conversations," the star continued. "But also, my guests feel like they have a platform to tell their own stories as well. It's not just your normal who are you wearing, what parties are you going to."
Ashley launched Pretty Big Deal's second season with an episode starring news anchor Gayle King and followed it up by chatting to fellow model Emily Ratajkowski this week. She intends for the podcast to become a permanent weekly feature and will even pre-record enough shows so that Pretty Big Deal continues while she takes about three months off after the birth of her son in January.
"We had a big meeting about what do the viewers want and what are they craving," she explained. "The first thing they were craving were 30-to-40-minute pieces of content for the commute and also we realised the moment we go away they're sad and then people will forget about the podcast. So, we decided that we want to be weekly and you never have to miss a beat."
