Festive food is so delicious that it seems a shame it’s confined to one meal on Christmas Day, but luckily for food fiends everywhere, Asda are trying to change that.

The supermarket is selling pigs in blankets as sausage rolls, so you can eat them on the go.

Asda’s Pig in Blanket Sausage Roll is on sale now for just 99p, and it sounds like the perfect pre-Christmas snack.

They’re made from seasoned sausage meat wrapped in streaky bacon, encased in flaky puff pastry and cooked in store for a fresh out of the oven flavour. Just delicious.

An Asda spokesperson said, “Our Christmas sandwich range is always popular with customers every year and this year we wanted to create something that’s also made for on-the-go eating and includes a family favourite - pigs in blankets.

“Asda’s Pig in Blanket Sausage Roll is a delicious take on a Christmas classic, and what’s more it’s produced in the UK. We hope that customers will enjoy the sausage roll and we’re certain that it will become a lunchtime staple.”

Of course, Asda aren’t the only supermarket to wrap pigs in blanket in pastry.

Last year Tesco sold “pigs in duvets”, served with a cranberry dipping sauce, which was branded as the ultimate party treat for just £5.

Pigs in blankets are an iconic festive side dish, and in November Greggs added tubs of the meaty morsels to their Christmas menu.

However, in October it was worryingly reported that a lack of festive workers who help make the slightly fiddly Christmas treats might lead to a shortage of them.

So don’t hang around - Asda’s pigs in blanket sausage rolls are on sale now.
