Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t be appearing in Shane Black’s ‘Predator’ sequel, and it seems now we know why.
It wasn’t about anything as tawdry as the money that was on the table, but more about the size and stature of the part.
In an interview with our pals at Yahoo Movies in the US, he explained:
“They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it — whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no.
“Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.”
Black has since responded to the remarks, after a fan got in touch with him on Twitter to voice his heartbreak at the news.
“I spoke with him,” replied Black. “I think it was that he didn’t have enough to do. Enough presence in the film.”

It is indeed a sad turn of events. Someone else will have to be well-placed to give directions to the helicopter.
The project continues apace, however, with filming currently in Vancouver.

And even with Arnie out of the picture, there’s a solid cast in place, with ‘Narcos’ star Boyd Holbrook in the lead, joined by Olivia Munn, ‘Moonlight’ star Trevante Rhodes, ‘Key & Peele’ star Keegan-Michael Key, ‘Game of Thrones’ Alfie Allen, ‘Battlestar Galactica’ don Edward James Olmos and ‘Room’ child star Jacob Tremblay.
Directed and penned by Black, ‘The Predator’ is due out on February 9, 2018.
