Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger announced their impending marriage earlier this month, less than a year after the pair began dating.

And now Pratt’s future father-in-law, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has opened up about how he feels about the whole thing.

“That was really fantastic,” he told Extra’s Mario Lopez of the engagement news.

“She is so happy, they both are so happy. As I said to him, he is such a likeable guy. I love Chris – he’s fantastic.”

Arnie also confirmed that Pratt had also gone the ‘traditional’ route of asking him before he popped the question.

“He’s a wonderful guy. They both look really great together, they’re both happy together, so I wish them both the best of luck.”

Katherine Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver, congratulated the pair the moment Pratt announced their plans on Instagram.

“Congratulations to two loving kind caring thoughtful Spiritual people,” she wrote.

“We are so happy for you, you are blessed as is everyone who knows you yes let’s go.”

Pratt divorced from his first wife, actress Anna Faris with who he has a son, Jack, last year after wedding in 2009.

The couple remain friends, with Faris offering to officiate at the forthcoming nuptials.
