Fashion influencer Arielle Charnas has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Something Navy clothing and accessories brand founder began exhibiting symptoms of the infection about five days ago and has since been self-isolating at home.

While Charnas received some criticism on Tuesday for using personal connections to get tested for Covid-19, she has now confirmed that she does have coronavirus.

"I realise that there are many individuals, both in New York City, and nationwide, who do not have the ability to receive immediate medical care at the first sign of sickness, and access to care is the number one priority in a time like this," she wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday. "Like many of you, this pandemic has me on heightened alert and I took what I believed to be the quick precautions necessary to protect the health and safety of my family and now ultimately, the people around me. This morning, I learned that I tested positive for Covid-19."

Charnas went on to describe her symptoms, which included a "very dry" throat, chest heaviness, fever, headache, sinus pressure, body aches, and skin sensitivity.

Accordingly, she has reached out to anyone she has had contact with in recent weeks to warn them of her diagnosis, and also urged others to abide by the advice of local health authorities.

"We are truly living in an unprecedented time, but if social media has shown us anything in the past couple of days, it's that we are all in this together," the blogger insisted. "I know that many of you are scared and anxious, but please stay calm, followed the directive of the medical and government communities and please be kind to each other."
