Arcane, an animated series based on the world of League of Legends, will be releasing on Netflix this fall, according to a short teaser trailer released on Monday (3 May).

Arcane follows the story of two iconic League of Legends champions, Jinx the Loose Cannon and Vi the Piltover Enforcer. The series is also set in the competing twin cities of Piltover, the steampunk utopia safeguarded by Vi, and Zaun, the oppressed underground where Jinx wreaks havoc.

Other characters that are seemingly new to the League of Legends universe also appear in the trailer, with one being seen skating on walls while another apparently wields lightning powers.

Considering the setting of the series, other champions hailing from Piltover and Zaun — such as Viktor, Warwick, and Caitlyn, among others — can also make appearances in the show.

League of Legends developer Riot Games first announced Arcane back in 2019 during the game's 10th anniversary celebration. While the show was initially slated to premiere in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic delayed its release to this year.

While Arcane will be available on Netflix for most of the world, League of Legends fans in China can also view it on Tencent Video thanks to Riot Games' partnership with Tencent.

The release of Arcane on Netflix notably adds to the ever-growing list of video game adaptations available on the popular streaming platform. DOTA: Dragon's Blood, an anime series based on Dota 2League of Legends' biggest rival — was released on Netflix in March and already has a second season on the way.

Aside from League of Legends and Dota 2, other video games with adaptations on Netflix include Castlevania, Resident Evil, Dragon's Dogma, Assassin's Creed, and Cuphead.
