On 6 January, Oricon Japan reported that Arashi’s album This Is Arashi had topped the weekly album ranking with 12,000 copies sold. This was the second time the album had achieved first place in the weekly ranking, since about eight weeks ago when it was released in November 2020.

This Is Arashi marks Arashi’s final album before their hiatus, which just began on 1 January. The album’s return to the top position in the weekly ranking also came right after the idol group held their last concert of the same title that was live-streamed from Tokyo Dome on 31 December 2020.

Oricon Japan also noted that this is Arashi’s second album that has made a comeback. Previously, their compilation album 5x20 All The Best!! 1999-2019, which topped the charts in their first week of sales in June 2019, had returned to the first place twice: once in the weekly ranking dated 29 July 2019, and another in the weekly ranking dated 2 September 2019. The compilation album later broke the Guinness World Record as the biggest-selling album worldwide in 2019.

Although Arashi is now on hiatus, their songs will continue to keep us company, just like what Jun Matsumoto said during their final concert. In fact, Arashi has a song from This Is Arashi to express this: The Music Never Ends.
