"Apprentice" to screen in New Delhi

"A Yellow Bird" and other films will also be featured at Delhi's Singapore Film Festival

"Apprentice" receives a standing ovation during its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

17 Aug – "Apprentice" is heading to India next as the Singapore-Malaysia production is set to be screened at the fourth edition of the Singapore Film Festival in New Delhi.

The movie, which previously screened at Cannes Film Festival and received positive reviews, will be featured at the event this September, as reported by Business Standard.

A total of five movies will be screened at the film festival.

Other titles include "A Yellow Bird" (also screened at Cannes Film Festival), "That Girl in Pinafore", "The Songs We Sang" and "7 Letters", each followed by a talk session with the related filmmakers and experts.

This marks another milestone for the Boo Junfeng-directed film, which stars Firdaus Rahman as Aiman Yusof, a prison officer that becomes the apprentice to Wan Hanafi Su's Rahim, the prison's Chief Executioner.

"In the spirit of cultural exchange, we wanted to share with our friends in India, works that have meaning for us Singaporeans. It was a matter of great pride for us to see two home-grown filmmakers' works screened at Cannes," First Secretary of the Singapore High Commission, Kester Tay, says in a statement.

"It showed that Singapore has stories to tell which can resonate with Singaporean as well as international audiences."

The Singapore Film Festival will take place at the Siri Fort Auditorium II from 1 to 3 September 2017.
