Apple revealed four iPhone models, similar to last year, at their media event today (15 September). The releases include the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

But what's grabbing our attention are the new colours pink and blue.

Let's take a look at the new models.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini

According to Apple, both models feature major innovations, including redesigned dual-camera system on the iPhone — a new Wide camera with bigger pixels and sensor-shift optical image stabilisation (OIS) offering improvement in low light photo and video conditions.

Photography-wise, the new Wide camera, with 1.7 µm pixels, comes with the biggest sensor ever in an iPhone dual-camera system and is capable of gathering 47 per cent more light for less noise and brighter results. Sensor-shift OIS — a technology introduced in iPhone 12 Pro Max and not found in any other smartphone — is also available in the Wide camera, and also the more compact iPhone 13 mini.

To assist with video storytelling, users will delight in the Photographic Styles and Cinematic mode.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini gets an upgrade with the A15 Bionic, which Apple says is faster than last year's A14 Bionic. Not just that, it also boasts longer battery life, a brighter Super Retina XDR display, incredible durability with the Ceramic Shield front cover, double the entry-level storage at 128GB, an industry-leading IP68 rating for water resistance, and an advanced 5G experience.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED with pre-orders beginning Friday, 17 September, and available from Friday, 24 September.

Customers can get iPhone 13 for S$55 a month for 24 months or S$1,299, and iPhone 13 mini for S$48 a month for 24 months or S$1,149 from apple.com/sg/store, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

Both redesigned models come with an all-new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion featuring an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, making the touch experience faster and more responsive.

The pro camera system gets an upgrade with new Ultra-Wide, Wide, and Telephoto cameras, that capture stunning photos and videos, powered by the performance of A15 Bionic.

Be prepared to revel in the rich details of macro photography on the new Ultra-Wide camera and up to 2.2x improved low-light performance on the new Wide camera.

Both the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models now include Night mode on all cameras.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come in four finishes, including graphite, gold, silver, and the all-new sierra blue. Pre-orders begin Friday, 17 September, and will be available from Friday, 24 September.

What's interesting is that both the models include the use of 100 per cent recycled rare earth elements in magnets like those used in MagSafe, 100 per cent recycled tin in the solder of the main logic board and, for the first time, in the solder of the battery management unit. Both models also introduce 100 per cent recycled gold on the plating of the main logic board and the wire in the front camera and rear cameras.
