Apparently tattoos aren't totally prohibited in the royal family
Turns out, the British royal family might be allowed to get tattoos despite the queen’s strict royal protocol.
Her Majesty’s granddaughter Zara Tindall says she “wouldn’t have a leg to stand on” if her daughters got tattoos.
Thanks to Her Majesty the Queen, the British royal family lives life by a...slightly different set of rules. Otherwise known as ~royal protocol~. Let’s see, they have to wear nude stockings with dresses and skirts, hats are a must at formal events, the “duchess slant” is the only way to sit, and black is a color best reserved for somber occasions. So it’s probably safe to assume they aren’t allowed to get tattoos, right? Wrong!
The queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall just gave a pretty illuminating answer when asked if she’d ever let her kids get tattooed, implying that it’s basically not up to her. Or anyone.
“He absolutely hasn’t got a tattoo,” Zara recently told Saga Magazine, referring to her husband, Mike. “I’d also rather one of my daughters came home with a piercing than a tattoo because at least a stud can be removed. I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if they did though.”
Apparently, Zara infamously got her tongue pierced as a teen, proving that, yep, even royals are allowed to rebel every now and then. And while it’s true that Zara isn’t a “working royal” in the same way Prince Harry, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Meghan Markle are, she still ascribes to the same protocol as the rest of her family—especially when she spends time with the queen, which is a lot.
In other words: It’s most definitely possible that Harry and William have tattoos that aren’t visible. 👀
