Apparently Lori Loughlin Claims She Didn’t Know the $500k She Paid Was for a College Admissions Scam

From Cosmopolitan

  • Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli claim they didn't realize the $500,000 they used to get their daughters into USC was part of a bribery scheme, apparently.

  • That defense is part of the reason they didn't take the original plea deal they were offered.

Get ready, guys. There's an update in the college admissions bribery scandal that is truly LOL. Apparently, Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli are planning to use the fact that they didn't know about the bribery scheme as their main defense in the case.

According to TMZ, Lori and Mossimo claim they didn't know Rick Singer, the guy running the whole operation, was going to use the $500,000 they gave him to bribe the USC crew coach. So, if you're wondering about those pictures they staged of their daughters on rowing machines, apparently Lori and Mossimo knew about the pics but claim they didn't know it was part of any scheme.

The couple's lawyer is planning to defend them by saying their intent was simply to get their daughters into the school by using a "facilitator" who had helped other students get into college, too. The problem with this defense, though, per TMZ, is that Mossimo personally paid the USC assistant athletic director $100,000.

The reason they didn't take the plea deal they were originally offered is because they allegedly feel their defense is so good.

As for personal stuff, their daughter Olivia Jade is reportedly speaking to them again. For a while, she was reportedly shutting them out because she felt like they ruined her life, according to sources. Now, Olivia and her mom are "in communication."

“Olivia was angry with her parents at first, but now realizes that they were just trying to do what’s best for her,” a source close to the family told Us Weekly. “Olivia loves her mom and dad very much, but is especially close with Lori.”
