Dozens of royal family members gathered in Buckingham Palace yesterday for the Queen's annual pre-Christmas luncheon, but not all of the famous royals were in attendance. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, wife of Prince Charles, was among those missing in action.

Prince Charles was seen arriving to the daytime soiree alone in the car yesterday. Camilla's absence had some royal fans wondering, what happened to the Duchess?

There's no juicy drama behind Camilla's absence; in fact, the reason is quite relatable. The Duchess of Cornwall had fallen ill from a "heavy cold," Clarence House, Charles and Camilla's official residence, confirmed to Daily Mail. The duchess was also scheduled to attend the Olympia Horse Show last night, but cancelled her appearance.

Other family members who were missing from yesterday's lunch included newlyweds Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. However, Eugenie's sister, Princess Beatrice, did attend the fête.

The royal guests included Prince Philip, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Princess Anne, and more.

The Queen hosts the private holiday family luncheon at the palace for extended relatives, since they won't all be celebrating Christmas with her and immediate family at Sandringham, Her Majesty's residence in Norfolk.

Those expected to attend the more intimate celebration in the country include the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Charles and Camilla. Hopefully the Duchess of Cornwall is feeling better by then.

The sovereign actually just left for her country home today. She was spotted at a train station while heading out to Sandringham, where she usually stays until February.
