What's Really Going On Between Selena Gomez and That Guy She's Rumored To Be Dating

With the announcement of Justin Bieber's engagement to Hailey Baldwin, his last ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez has gotten heightened paparazzi attention this week, just as she traveled to New York to start shooting her new zombie movie project upstate. Photographers have noted she's been seen hanging with recent high school graduate Caleb Stevens, both in New York City and in Fleischmann, the small town she's shooting the film in with Bill Murray and Vanessa Hudgens's boyfriend Austin Butler. It didn't take long for some tabloids to report they're rumored to be dating; they most recently were shot leaving the same cabin upstate though separately.

But they are positively not dating, a source close to Gomez told People. Caleb Stevens is the younger brother of Gomez's best friend Raquelle Stevens (the one who went with her to Italy). “They’re absolutely only friends," that source said. "They’re not dating.”

Caleb just graduated high school. Since he's Raquelle's brother, it's not entirely surprising that he's attended events with her and Gomez, including the Hotel Transylvania 3 Los Angeles premiere two weeks ago.

Sources have additionally made it clear to tabloids in the last week that Gomez is open to dating but not committed to anyone. "She's learning to appreciate the alone time," one told E!.

Don't expect any Jailey or Ariana Grande-Pete Davidson super speed romance from her either. Gomez said that she does not believe in love at first sight while doing interviews for her new film. "I don’t think so," she said on whether it exists. "I think you’ve gotta know someone."
