Here's What the Crystal Ball Frapp Tastes Like

After photos began popping up on social media earlier this week, Starbucks officially released its Crystal Ball Frappuccino on Thursday.

The crème-based drink, available through Monday, March 26, is infused with peach flavor and turquoise sparkles before being topped with peach whipped cream and sprinkled with blue, green, or purple candy sparkles. It's reminiscent of other Frappuccinos that went viral in 2017, like the Unicorn Frapp, which was a blended-crème beverage made from mango syrup and sour-blue drizzle, and finished with whipped cream and pink and sour-blue powder.

But enough of that: What does the new frap taste like? Six people put it to the test, and here's what they said.

"I'll start with the caveat that I'm not a huge frap person, but I feel like this isn't quite doing it for me - it's like it can't decide whether it wants to be fruity or creamy. I know that's the point, but it needs to pick a team." - Emma

"I don’t hate this, which is shocking to me because I ALWAYS hate these. It tastes like melted, fruity ice cream." - Eliza

"Although I was expecting a milkshake-like consistency, the texture was much icier, like a Fla-Vor-Ice-Pop, although I couldn't make out any distinct fruit flavors. Overall, it tasted milky with a vague hint of vanilla. The colorful crystals gave every sip a sweet crunch, although I couldn't detect much in the way of flavor - there was none of the Fruity Pebble action you'd imagine. Still, I have no plans to order this drink again: It's too sweet to replace my regular coffee order and not quite rich enough to serve as a satisfying dessert." - Elizabeth

"It was like drinking a subtle peaches and cream Icee. The pop of a fizzy sprinkle was a nice touch." - Tom

"My very first thought after trying the latest Starbucks concoction was, 'needs vodka.' I'm a two-sugars-in-my-coffee kind of person but even I thought this was a little too sweet. The flavors blend well together - I picked up notes of coconut and cotton candy - and I think this would be a perfect beach day mixer with a little booze thrown in." - Ali

"The Crystal Ball Frappuccino tastes like an original Creamsicle that was thrown into a blender. Apparently the colors of the sprinkles tell your fortune, but since I didn’t look at mine before I finished, I’ll forecast my own fate: This drink is too indulgent to be a recurring player in my future." - Mia
