Antoinette Jadaone denies movie copies Hollywood films

The director says movie, "Love You to the Stars and Back" is different from other romance movies about cancer

22 Aug - Film director Antoinette Jadaone has recently dismissed speculations that her upcoming movie, "Love You to the Stars and Back" copies other Hollywood coming-of-age romance films.

As reported on ABS-CBN, previously, Netizens debated that the upcoming movie, starring Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto (JoshLia) may have copied the Shailene Woodley-starrer, "A Fault in Our Stars" or the 2002 movie, "A Walk to Remember" as both of them involved the cancer subplot.

Speaking to the media about the issue, Jadaone shared that she had already expected the comments about the similarity between the movies, but stated that that is the only common denominator.

"Aside from that, Mika and Caloy's story is different from the characters of "The Fault in Our Stars" or "A Walk to Remember". It's just that there is cancer, but every character has a different journey," she said.

In "Love You to the Stars and Back", Barretto plays the role of Mika, who believes in the existence of aliens. While on a journey to the place where she believes that she can find them, she meets Caloy (Garcia), who is on his own spiritual journey.
