Anthony Wong surprised over ATA Best Actor win

18 Jan – Anthony Wong recently admitted that he was pleasantly surprised over winning Best Actor at the 25th Asian Television Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who won for his role in the drama, "The Republic", spoke to the media about the good news, saying that he was very happy over the recognition.

"I never thought about winning an award. It feels like it came at the right time during this tough times," he said.

He also shared the good news on social media, writing, "Thank you [Asian Television Awards] and the director."

In the episode "Sound Prison" of the dystopian ViuTV drama "The Republic", Anthony plays the role of a prisoner in a new type of unguarded prison controlled by an AI voice control system.

On the other hand, Taiwanese actress Yogurt Lee, who bagged Best Actress for her role in the mini-series "The Rootless", also admitted that she was in disbelief over winning the accolade saying, "I asked three times in a row, Is it really me?"
