Anthony Wong is HK Critics' choice for Best Actor

22 Jan – Anthony Wong was recently named Best Actor by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, who was honoured for his performance in "Still Human", admitted that he was surprised by the announcement.

"I was cleaning the house and my two awards, and I thought to myself it would be great to have another one. Then it came true!" he enthused.

Anthony also expressed his gratitude to director Oliver Chan, who also won Best Screenplay for the movie, and expressed hope that his win would help promote the movie.

When asked if he is confident about his chance at the Hong Kong Film Awards now that he is winning the critics' favour, Anthony stated that he will not think about it.

"It doesn't matter if I win or not. If I do, then I do, if I don't, then I don't," he added.

He also expressed hope that the government will provide financial assistance to the movie industry, as many actors are currently working without pay to help new directors.

"If I took a salary, this film wouldn't have been made at all," he said.

It is noted that Anthony bested contenders like Chow Yun Fat ("Project Gutenberg"), Poon Chan Leung and Francis Ng ("Men on the Dragon"), and Ben Fu and Philip Keung ("Tracey").
