Anthony Wong denies concert poster removal was political

20 Feb - Hong Kong singer Anthony Wong Yiu Ming has denied any political issue involving the removal of the Tat Ming Pair's concert poster from the MTR.

As reported on Mingpao, previously, the poster, which featured composite images of various celebrities and idols, including Eric Tsang, Stephen Chow, Eason Chan, and the Buddha himself, was taken down from subway stations across Hong Kong, sparking rumours that the pro-China group was protesting against it.

Such speculations arose since Anthony, who is one part of the Tat Ming Pair aside from guitarist Tats Lau, is known to be a Hong Kong pro-democracy supporter.

However, when asked about it recently, the singer stated that the decision to remove the poster is nothing political, but due to complaints made by one of the celebrities whose face was added into the poster.

"The singer said that we didn't ask his permission beforehand. The singer also has a lot of projects in mainland China and doesn't want to be affected. So we took it down," he said.

Although Anthony didn't mention any names, it was reported that the said celebrity was Taiwan's multi-hyphenate, Jay Chou, whose small image can be seen in the left corner of the poster.
