Anthony Hopkins says actors are 'pretty stupid' and admits he doesn't watch 'green screen films'
Sir Anthony Hopkins has described himself and fellow actors as “pretty stupid” and said he doesn’t think it’s worth asking actors’ viewpoints on big issues.
In a discussion with Meet Joe Black co-star Brad Pitt for Interview Magazine, Hopkins also revealed he rarely watches “green screen films”, despite his roles in several blockbuster franchises.

Hopkins told Pitt he is often asked to express his viewpoint on big developments in the movie industry or in the world as a whole.
“I don’t have any opinions,” he said. “Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything.
“There’s no controversy for me, so don’t engage me in it, because I’m not going to participate.”
The 81-year-old is currently promoting his role as Pope Benedict XVI in the Netflix drama The Two Popes, in which he appears alongside Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis.
Hopkins said he is “not a great fan of going to movies anymore”, but did say he had found the time to watch Pitt’s performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, for which he is tipped to finally win an acting Oscar.
“I’m not great at going to see the green screen films,” Hopkins added.
“I’ve been in a few of them and they’re fun, but they don’t grab me. I’m a bit too old for that.”

Hopkins has portrayed the Asgardian patriarch Odin in all three Thor movies to date and he also appeared as Sir Edmund Burton in Michael Bay’s Transformers sequel The Last Knight.
The Two Popes is directed by Fernando Meirelles and focuses on a series of fictionalised meetings between Pope Benedict and Pope Francis, surrounding the former’s decision to resign the papacy in 2013.

The film will be hoping to compete for Oscars, with Hopkins hoping to muscle in on the crowded Best Supporting Actor category.
Also among the big names angling for the five spots will be both Al Pacino and Joe Pesci for The Irishman, Pitt for his role in the aforementioned Tarantino drama, Timothée Chalamet for Little Women, Jamie Foxx for Just Mercy and Tom Hanks for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
The Two Popes is in selected UK cinemas now and will arrive on Netflix from 20 December.
