Ansel Elgort is keeping the hairstyle he wore to play Tony in the remake of West Side Story.
Ansel is currently shooting a reboot of the classic 1961 musical film, directed by Steven Spielberg, with the project also starring newcomer Rachel Zegler as Maria. The original movie is an adaptation of the hit 1957 Broadway musical, which in turn was inspired by William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and follows the tragic story of star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria in 1950s America.
And the actor is so fond of his hairstyle for the flick that he's keeping it in his real life.
"I sort of came up with the hair for him, the way I push it back," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's sort of like the '50s, but also real - not over-the-top '50s hair - just out of my face, pushed back. Straight back, not to the side. I'm wearing it in my regular life now."
Elsewhere in the interview, the Baby Driver star, who recently released his first-ever fragrance with Ralph Lauren, confessed he has a very low maintenance skincare routine.
"If I'm working, I start taking care of my skin, if I have to wear make-up and stuff. But if I'm not wearing make-up, then I don't give a s**t - I don't do anything. I just take a shower every once in a while," Ansel joked.
While the young actor may feel some pressure working on the remake of the beloved West Side Story, he also divulged that he and his castmates have been entertained by Hollywood legend Rita Moreno, who starred in the 1961 movie as Anita.
"Rita's hilarious - she's always making inappropriate jokes, because she's from old Hollywood," the 25-year-old said of the actress, who has a cameo in the Oscar-winning director's take on the musical.
