Annie Liu: Accent is harder to change than pronunciation
19 Jun – Taiwanese actress Annie Liu recently admitted that she is not affected at all by criticisms concerning her performance in the TVB costume drama, "Deep in the Realm of Conscience".
As reported on Mingpao, the actress who spoke to the media at the launch of the 35-metre high atrium Morpheus at the Macau's City of Dreams, stated that she expected to be criticised for her performance in the drama, since it was her first TVB drama and first time acting solely in Cantonese.
"I have never spoken that many Cantonese dialogues in my life before. I have received a lot of comments in the early reviews, and I will accept it," she said.
Nonetheless, Annie stressed that accent and pronunciation are two different things, saying that while she can practice on her pronunciations, it would be harder to change her accents.
"I didn't grow up in Hong Kong. It may take more time to work on that," she added.
